Pine Script Strategies for Goat Funded Trader Evaluations
Goat Funded Trader has become a go-to for futures traders who want competitive drawdown rules and low entry fees. Our Pine Scripts are sized for Goat's trailing drawdown model and target structure — here's how they work.
Goat Funded Trader's rule set and what drives strategy decisions
Goat Funded Trader uses a trailing drawdown based on your highest balance. As your account grows, the absolute floor grows with it — making the earlier days of the eval the most critical. A bad early session when the trail hasn't moved much is the most common way traders fail.
The strategic implication: don't try to sprint to the profit target in the first two sessions. Build equity slowly early, let the trailing floor step up, and then you have more room to operate as the eval progresses. Consistent small wins over 8–10 days beat one big session followed by a breach.
Goat Funded Trader 50k eval — key rules
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Profit target | $3,000 |
| Max trailing drawdown | $2,500 |
| Daily loss limit | None (check current rules) |
| Min trading days | 5 |
| News trading | Restricted near major events |
| Overnight holds | Not permitted on most plans |
Overnight hold restriction — what it means for Pine Scripts
If you're on a Goat plan that prohibits overnight positions, your Pine Script needs a session close flattener — logic that closes any open trade before RTH ends regardless of whether the target has been hit. All of our strategies include this as a configurable option. Set it to 15:45 ET and no position survives into the close.
Instruments that work best
- MES — Conservative sizing. Best for building equity steadily early in the eval when the trail is tightest.
- MNQ — More volatile per tick. Reaches target faster but produces more variance. Works better once you have some cushion above the trail.
- ES / NQ — Full-size. For 100k and 150k accounts where the drawdown permits larger stops.
Which plan fits Goat Funded Trader?
The Starter plan ($50) covers 50k accounts on MES or MNQ. The Pro plan ($80) covers 100k+ on ES or NQ. Either plan includes the session-close flattener so you're never caught holding overnight on a plan that prohibits it. If you need a specific entry model or news filter, the Custom plan ($120) covers that.
